Hydrophilic PE powders can also enhance the bond strength between metals and plastics. This hydrophilization is achieved through low-pressure plasma treatment. Treatment parameters depend largely on the powder particle size. Plasma treatment can take from 5 minutes to several hours. Since the process temperature remains low throughout the entire treatment time, thermal damage to the powder is eliminated. Consequently, essential powder properties such as melting temperature, crystallinity, and molar weight are not affected.
